With spring coming earlier than expected, my life has become hectic sooner as a result. This always seems to happen every year like clockwork on the first day of 60, 70…80 (?) degrees! Especially since we have new lambs, shearing has recently taken place and dyeing can now happen with the doors open (although baby gates are needed to keep little Stella in). Although ideally I would love to be outside tending sheep or digging in the garden, I have been able to successfully channel that hyperactive energy and inspiration into knitting, designing and dyeing. As always the dye pots are simmering away in preparation for the next fiber festival—the Shepherds Harvest in the twin cities, May 7-9th.

With those warm days of spring we also get inspired to knit warm weather attire. We have recently gotten in some wonderful simple tank top patterns (knit all in onepiece!) and some amazing new mercerized-like pima cotton called Ultra Pima from Cascade Yarns. It looks and feels like silk and does not have the “crunchy” feeling that some mercerized cottons have. Check out our coupon for Ultra Pima on page 4.

As always, once we run out of a certain product there is a huge demand for that pattern, color, etc. For those of you who came in and found yourself smitten and completely in love with the Swirl Shawl scarf, we now have the pattern back in stock, we also have the color of yarn the sample is knit in, as well as a few other lovely colors to choose from!

Since the last newsletter we have had 5 lambs. They are getting quite large and rambunctious now. It is always amazing how fast they grow. This year we have two waves of lambs. Our next wave is due in early May (10 ewes are due then… we will have sleepless nights to be sure). Every year we learn something new, usually the hard way, but then we never let it happen again. Thus is the way with sheep I suppose. You can read more about the lambs on our shop and farm blogs: Ewetopian Farm Fiber CSA & Ewetopia Fiber Shop Blog.

May the Fiber be with you!
