Afghan Block KAL starts

  • Ewetopia 102 S. Main St VIroqua, WI 54665 United States (map)

Join us for a nine month long Knit Along using the book The Great North American Afghan. We will be tackling a 12” square every three weeks or as a group, in increasingly challenging designs. It’s a good “next step” for those of you relatively new to knitting who want to learn some new skills such as cables, colorwork, lace, chart reading, mosaic, and more. These skills are all very usable in larger garments and handy to have in your knitting toolbox. It’s also a fun project for more seasoned knitters.

We will be introducing 12 squares, so enough for a 3’ x 4’ lap blanket. You can make as many as you want. The plan is to be done by the end of the year, blocked and sewn together.

The blocks are designed using worsted weight yarn and three needles sizes: the size needed to give you 5 sts/in, the size below, and the size above.

There will be a Facebook Group so it is possible to join us virtually. Subsequent meeting times can be determined by the group - but Saturday morning Open Handwork time from 9-11 is a great time to get help with them.

The KAL is free, but you’ll need a copy of the book. It is out of print, but we will have it for $12.95. There are 24 well written designs, so it’s totally worth it. A person can join any time.

Email for more info.

The first block will be by designer Susan Guagliami perfecting our twisted stitches.
